A lot of HTC enthusiasts have been waiting to see a new tablet model

HTC is one of those elusive companies that is having a hard time deciding whether to stay in or out of the tablet game. Regardless, fans of the HTC tablet concept still exist and a new render shows us a product that could be capable of bringing the mojo back to the company’s almost inexistent tablet business.

But before we give you more details about the new render, let’s take a moment and remember that once upon a time, HTC was hailed as an innovative company and lots of folks expected to see good things come out of it. We can’t say they didn't.

For example, HTC was credited to be the first to launch a major smartphone boasting a touchscreen and the company was also behind the HP iPAQ and Palm Treo 650.

Back in 2009, the company initiated the “quietly brilliant” campaign and in 2010 it pulled the veil off the first 4G capable smartphone in the US, dubbed the HTC Evo 4G.

So there you have it, HTC definitely had a thing or two in the smartphone department, but what about tablets? Back in 2012, the company launched the HTC Flyer tablet that, granted, boasted a beautiful design, a trademark for the device-maker.

The slate was made available via Sprint, but didn't gain much traction with consumers and one of the reasons behind it was the chunky $399 / €291 price-tag. HTC’s second attempt at tablet-making, a 10-inch tablet sold exclusively through AT&T, pushed things even further in the pricing department, as customers were able to pick one for a whopping $699 / €510.

To leave a mark on the extremely crowded tablet market, HTC needs something truly disruptive and Jonas Daehnert (going by the alias of PhoneDesigner) might have a thing or two to teach the company’s design team.

The device he envisioned has been called HTC Babel and is one of the dual-boot tablets we have been hearing about in the past few months. So the tablet should be capable of switching between 64-bit Windows 8 and Android and could also boast large speakers and a premium aluminum unibody case.

The slate should come with a spacious 10-inch screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio and 1920 x 1440 pixel resolution or even 2560 x 1920 pixels for that matter.

Furthermore, the tablet should come equipped with a native digitizer and a stylus, so the device could go against any of Samsung’s Galaxy tablets.

Recent rumors have stated HTC will be teaming up with a Google to produce the next-gen Nexus 10 tablet, so we might end up seeing a tablet branded by the company, as soon as Q3 2014 after all.
