The company promises more promotions like this one

The HTC Nexus 9 just went on sale a few days ago in a few select markets, and the producing company surprised everyone when it announced that it was selling the tablet for only $199 / €159 (which is a 50% discount from the regular $399 / €319 price).

Naturally, the promotion was limited to one day only, so if you weren't fast enough to snatch up a super-cheap tablet, you were doomed to be left without a Nexus 9 (at least for now).

HTC's website didn't work properly during the promotion

If you didn't manage to purchase a Nexus 9 yourself, don’t worry because it turns out you were not the only one in that situation as a lot of people couldn't either, which led to a lot of outrage.

People got frustrated because HTC put up for sale limited quantities of the product, but the biggest issue was the company’s website, which could not handle the massive flow of traffic.

HTC is trying to do a bit of damage control following the unhappy situation, so HTC America’s President Jason Mackenzie stepped out and apologized to everyone trying to pick up a Nexus 9 a few days ago. He also revealed that only “several hundred” Nexus 9 tablets were included in the promotion.

Moreover, he did acknowledge that the HTC website did not function properly and was not able to sustain the unfolding of the promotion in the way it should have.

Because of the mishap, a lot of people couldn't access the company’s website in order to get their chance at spending their money on a new Nexus 9.

HTC says it is currently fixing the issue, but we doubt anybody is interested in this aspect if there’s no promotion involved.

HTC says it will soon offer more promotions like this one

The producing company is promising that more similar promotions will be offered in the near future, but it’s not giving any exact dates.

A report coming out of Asia yesterday said that the Nexus 9 was selling like hot cakes and HTC was having some trouble dealing with the overwhelming and unexpected demand.

Even if the Nexus 9 marks a shift in the way Google does things tablet-wise, customers don’t seem to be bothered by the premium price tag.

Unlike the Nexus 7, which arrived with competent specs but with a wallet-friendly rate, the Nexus 9 is more premium, bundling a 2K display, an NVIDIA Tegra K1 Denver processor and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

Given the rising interest in the new tablet, HTC was forced to bump up production capacity to meet demand. It sure seems like the Nexus 9 has caught HTC off guard in more than one way.
