HTC continues to add new mid-range Android smartphones to its portfolio ahead of the One M9’s reveal at Mobile World Congress 2015.

The newest handset that’s supposed to arrive in the coming months is known as HTC A53, but it will probably be launched under a different name on the market.

According to @Upleaks, the unannounced smartphone will be launched in Asia, including Taiwan, and it will be available in three color options: Gray/Purple Gun, White/Silver, and Brown/Light Gold.

The A53 will pack dual-SIM support, but a single-SIM version may be released in some countries as well. If the smartphone is launched in Europe and/or North America, it is likely to be available only in single-SIM variant.

Moving on to specs, only a handful of features have been leaked, but they are mostly all we need to know about the smartphone to get an idea of what it has to offer.

The smartphone is unlikely to be showcased at MWC 2015

HTC A53 will be powered by a MediaTek MT6795 64-bit chipset that will pack an octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz. Furthermore, the smartphone will be equipped with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. There are no details on microSD support, but we expect the A53 to offer this feature as well.

On the back, the A53 is said to boast an impressive 13-megapixel camera, while on the front there will be a 4-UltraPixel camera.

Software-wise, the A53 will be powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system with HTC Desire Sense 7.0 UI on top.

As for when HTC will introduce the A53, there’s not an exact launch date for the smartphone yet and it’s highly unlikely that we will be seeing this one showcased at MWC 2015 next month. Perhaps it will be launched in the coming weeks in Taiwan, but this is just a speculation so take it or leave it.
