It looks like HTC and Vodafone Australia have finally managed to bring 8X owners the long-awaited Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update.

As WMPoweruser points out, the carrier announced a few months ago that it wouldn’t offer the GDR2 update due to some issues with the HTC 8X.

At that time, we thought that the HTC 8X wouldn’t be getting any other major Windows Phone updates, but Vodafone issued a statement a few days later confirming that the smartphone would eventually receive the GDR3 update instead.

Well, it looks like the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 for HTC 8X is now up and ready for download at Vodafone Australia. Those who own the smartphone should check their devices and upgrade their software as soon as it pops up.

New features and improvements offered by GDR3 include FM Radio, IMAP support, Gmail tweaks, the option to close apps and a lot more.
