Laser printer from HP receives "gold" treatment

HP's sales have gone up in the last months. And when I say up I should write the word using Caps lock since they've announced that they sold more than 4 million printers in the Middle East. And 4 million is an impressive number even for one such as HP.

It seems that the success HP has is mostly related to its laser printer line. And that's quite interesting since laser printers segment has been crowded with all sorts of new products being launched almost every week. Add the fact that several manufacturers have products that are actually cheaper than HP's and still don't sell as much as HP does. I guess it's "brand" mania which turns users towards their products. And HP officials sure know how to keep it alive.

HP's newest "gadget" comes in form of a casual HP1160 laser printer. There's nothing special about it, it just a plain printer. The only thing that's out of the ordinary is that it is coated in 24-carat gold. And that makes it worth $20,000. The printer looks breathtaking and will be sold to the highest bidder at the end of Gitex. I wonder what they're going to come up with next. Maybe a diamond encrusted mouse would be a nice thing to have in your collection. What do you say?
