HP may have been among the first to tease a tablet meant to compete against the iPad las year, but it hasn't really managed to properly build on that plan, though something based on webOS may finally be released, or at least previewed, soon.

End-users may or may not know that HP intends to hold an event on February 9, when it should provide some information on its plans for 2011.

It is also a well known fact that HP acquired Palm last year and should eventually deliver tablets running the webOS operating system.

That said, HP VP Todd Bradley recently showed up in an interview of sorts with CNBC and provided a few hints as to what one can expect come next month.

In his own words, on “February 9th we have a broad public set of announcements, broadly about the future of webOS and the breadth of products that it’ll enable.”

“As we think about how that enables everything from smartphones to tablets to PCs to potentially other large screen devices, we see an enormous opportunity, both for ourselves and for our customers, to get the best web experience, the best content experience, that they can.” Todd Bradley, Executive VP, Personal Systems Group, HP, went on to saying.

Since “tablets are phenomenal for content consumption” and “PCs [are] great for content creation,” HP is trying to make sure the former does not negatively impact upon the sales of the latter.

Regardless, the main point of this whole event is that HP wanted to ensure that whatever webOS news it released didn't get overwhelmed by the sheer flood of announcements during CES.

Granted, a tablet is not specifically confirmed, but, if anything, even if an actual device is not released, at least the top PC maker will provide a plan of sorts for how it intends to create them and differentiate them from the Apple iPad.
