HP only just announced that it intends to pass on its PC business to someone else, or spin it off in an independent company, and already rumors are pinning names to prospective buyers, in this case Samsung.

The revelation HP made during its most recent conference call with financial analysts are among the type that left at least some people gaping.

One thing the outfit said bluntly was that it was dropping all webOS projects, this including all its phones and the TouchPad.

As if this alone was not enough of a shocker, the company also said it wants to spin off or sell its entire PC unit, despite the outfit being practically number one supplier of such things worldwide.

Needless to say, those that did not take well to this news brooked no delay in expressing their disapproval.

Nonetheless, HP is steadfast and, according to new reports, it may even have resolved to move quickly towards finalizing the policy changes.

As expected, even though just a short time passed, speculations have already arisen on who will get the PC unit.

Digitimes seems to think Samsung is in for what may very well be one of the biggest bombshells in terms of business acquisitions for 2011.

This assumption came to be as a result of Samsung supposedly contacting notebook makers in order to be prepared for possible outsourcing of some of tis notebook orders.

If Samsung does adopt HP's PC business, it will have to ship roughly 50 to 60 million notebook every year, so outsourcing production to external partners makes ever bit of sense.

Of course, the outfit did not offer any sort of comment on this, not that anyone expected any official word.

Either way, since HP has already taken this seemingly resolute stance, it is only a matter of time before clarity shines down upon this matter, so users need only wait.
