HP and Huawei have apparently partnered up to push LTE products

Earlier this month, we told you the unannounced HP Slate VoiceTab 7 Ultra has made an appearance in the wild at an event in Mumbai, India.

Now the folks at Mobile Geeks have managed to dig up not only the VoiceTab 7 Ultra but two other tablets as well. On top of that, they are sharing an interesting piece of information with us.

HP has apparently taken up a partnership with other device manufactures. According to the latest information, the company will be offering a series of tablets made by Huawei, which are going to be rebranded and be sold under the HP banner.

Let’s start with the already familiar to us, VoiceTab 7. This is obviously a variant of the MediaPad X1 tablet which was introduced back at MWC 2014.

The specifications of the two tabs are quite identical only the coloring scheme appears to be different. The VoiceTab is a 7-inch tablet arriving with voice calling capabilities and boasting a full HD display (1920 x 1200 pixels res), quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 910 CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of flash memory and LTE function.

Sadly, as we mentioned before, the OS onboard continues to be Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with the proprietary HP Emotion UI thrown on top. Sorry, folks, no Android 4.4 KitKat to be found here, at least not for now.

Now let us give you a few details about the two other slates. The HP Slate 8 is expected to take advantage of the same CPU fitted with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). Obviously, this is a re-branded version of the Huawei MediaPad M1.

The 8-inch display accommodates 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. Other specifications include N-WLAN, Bluetooth 4.0, microSIM and LTE support. Android 4.4 KitKat is also absent here, so you’ll have to make-do with the earlier Jelly Bean version.

In the case of the HP Slate 10 Plus, the report doesn't bring a lot of info but argues this might be a re-branded version of the Huawei MediaPad 10 Link+.

HP has been trying to conquer the tablet market for some time now, but in our opinion it is not doing a swell job. The company is trying to provide budget-friendly options, but other manufacturers are way ahead of it, offering even cheaper products with better specs and priced more attractively.

HP is not new to offering re-branded versions of products. Remember the HP Slate 7 Extreme, which is a version of the NVIDIA Tegra Note 7. By partnering up with Huawei, HP is probably trying to push LTE-friendly tablet products, but will customers mind at all?
