Associating a product with a celebrity represents the foundation of the commercial promotion of the "brands" involved. Still, a bad association will affect both the product and its supporter, and an excellent example is represented by the HP R607 line of cameras which is associated with the artist Gwen Stefani.

First of all, HP is not among the main producers of digital cameras, the cameras signed by the company being far behind the products from Canon, Sony or Nikon.

Second of all, what is the connection between a digital camera and a female singer? Ok, if you're lucky enough to be near her, you take some photos. So what? When HP thought of the „Harajuku" camera, the company must have considered the special appearance of this camera, and the association with Gwen, the artist who doesn't fall in any category, regardless of its nature, seemed like a good idea.

So, if design is not excellent, then the camera has to provide excellent performances. But „Harajuku" is just an entry-level model with a 4.1 megapixel sensor, 32MB of internal memory and SD compatibility.

The good news is that there won't be too many such products to roam freely the market, the „Harajuku" series being limited to only 3,000 units. The 250 dollars investment is worth to think about if you take into consideration that along with the camera you also get a video DVD with Gwen, and audio interview, backgrounds and other bonuses signed by the artist.
