Soon to come

HP is preparing a new smartphone release, with the iPAQ 600 model, this autumn. This comes just after the release of another model and might also be immediately followed by the release of the iPAQ 900 phone.

HP iPAQ 600 works on Windows Mobile 6, one of the most evolved operating systems, which earns this device a well deserved place among the best smartphones. One thing which might prove to be rather a drawback is the fact that this phone comes only with a regular keypad and not a QWERTY one. This will make it considerably more difficult for its user to use its performances at its true value.

One highly attractive feature on this device is that it includes an iPod-like touch sensitive navigation wheel. That proved to be one great success in the case of Apple's music players, so why wouldn't it work just as good on a HP smartphone? It will probably add some functionality to the navigation controls, although it will be quite difficult until the user gets accustomed to it.

HP iPAQ 600 will also have EDGE, HSDPA and WiFi performances, with the possibility of reaching data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps. There will also be Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity and Assisted GPS, for making sure that the user always finds his way around, no matter the situation.

All these performances will be backed up by a Marvell PXA270 (Bulverde) CPU at 520MHz and also come with 128 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM. For an extra amount of data storage space, there will also by a microSD card slot included. The phone will also have a 3 megapixel camera, capable of providing captures at a fairly good quality.

HP iPAQ 600 is rumored to come in September, although a price for this device has not been revealed yet.
