There are many things that can happen on the IT market, partnerships being one of the fairly common ones, as HP and Conde Nast showed through their joint press announcement.

People may have come upon the piece of information concerning the new collaboration between Cisco and Citrix (read about it here).

Apparently, HP and Conde Nast have also sealed a collaboration, though with a different purpose in mind.

What they want is to experiment with a new medium for digital content distribution, one that provides smoother and more convenient content and digital-to-print services.

Indeed, HP wants to make it easy for people to order and get replacement ink, both at home and at work, whenever they need it, or know they will end up using some.

Additionally, Conde Nast has another pilot program in mind, one that will let subscribers schedule delivery of content from Allure, Epicurious, Glamour, Golf Digest, Wired, Self and Details.

The actual delivery of magazines and such will be done straight to HP web-connected printers, using HP print tools.

“Our work with Condé Nast creates a new channel for customers to access the content they want from some of their favorite publications,” said Stephen Nigro, senior vice president, Inkjet and Web Solutions, Imaging and Printing Group, HP.

“And, when coupled with our scheduled delivery service, allows customers to get the content they want, whenever they want it.”

HP Instant Ink will deliver HP Ink cartridges to the home or office when required, with the catch being up to 50% annual savings on purchases, all for a low monthly fee.

Subscriptions will start at some point this fall, for $5.99 to $10.99 (4.35 to 7.98 Euro) per month, depending on the selected product line (cartridge shipping costs are included).

“This project is one of the many ways Condé Nast is using emerging technology to engage consumers,” said Julie Michalowski, senior vice president, Consumer Business Development, Condé Nast.   “With this new HP pilot program, consumers will be able to have their favorite Condé Nast content at their fingertips.”
