Coming to meet the demand for more versatile printing solutions for home users, HP has just announced the introduction of its new Photosmart Premium printer, claiming it is the world's first web-connected printer. According to HP, this new solution will provide users with an interactive and intuitive interface that will offer access to popular digital content. The new all-in-one inkjet printer features an integrated touchscreen display that enables the user to fully interact with the device's features. HP also states that, at 4.33 inch, the built-in touchscreen display is the largest LCD touchscreen on any other similar product on the market.

“Twenty-five years ago HP invented consumer printing and today we are taking advantage of the digital content explosion to reinvent the category with an entirely new printing platform – powered by touch and empowered by the web,” Vyomesh Joshi, executive vice president, Imaging and Printing Group, HP, said. “By giving people access to the content they want at the touch of a finger, the ability to customize their printing experience and create their own apps, and enabling easy ‘one touch’ wireless setup, we are driving a significant shift in how people will be printing in the future.”

One of the main features that have been enabled on HP's latest Photosmart Premium printer is that it allows users to take advantage of various applications, viewable on the printer's large touchscreen display. This makes up for the printer's all new, web-based printing platform.

According to HP, the new printer will be made available with a series of new applications, developed by some of the company's partners, including USA TODAY, Google, Fandango, Coupons.com, DreamWorks Animation, Nickelodeon, Web Sudoku and Weather News Inc.

Designed to print, fax, copy and scan, the new Photosmart Premium printer from HP is expected to become available in the United States for a targeted street price of US$399.
