Along with the introduction of Intel's next generation of server-class and workstation Xeon processors, a number of industry-leading companies have rolled out their new solutions. Such is the case of the Palo Alto, California-based HP, which has just introduced the new HP Z Workstation, designed to up the ante in the performance category, offering unprecedented performance, value and serviceability in a sleek new design, according to the system vendor. The Z series comes with three new systems, the Z800, Z600 and the Z400, each one enabling a different level of performance for a wide range of users.

“The new Z line marks the first HP workstations to be totally serviceable with your fingers – from the power supply to the motherboard,” said Jim Zafarana, vice president and general manager, Workstations, HP. “Early studies show that an HP Z Workstation may pay for itself in a surprisingly short period with its performance and productivity gains.”

Designed to take advantage of Intel's new Xeon 5500 series of processors, HP's new Z-series workstations are meant to provide designers and power users with a high level of performance. The systems feature Intel's Boost Technology, integrated memory controllers and a new lineup of professional graphics solutions, as well as an option for solid-state drives.

The company's new flagship, the Z800 model, is designed for 3-D animation, broadcast video, oil and gas discovery, and medical imaging applications. The system is featured with an all-new brushed aluminum industrial design and a modular internal design that also offers support for a liquid-cooling option. The Z600 workstation is meant to provide professionals with a high level of performance in a compact form factor. It meets the performance requirements of experts in industries such as video production, finance and midrange CAD.

The new Z400 workstation boasts Intel's next-generation single-socket Xeon processors, and it is meant to provide video editing, photography, design and engineering professionals with the best-in-class performance. This model can also be equipped with a liquid cooling solution.

According to HP, its new workstations will be available worldwide starting April 6. Price wise, users in the US will be able to acquire the new systems for prices starting at $969 for the Z400, $1,679 for the Z600 and $1,999 for the Z800.
