Software comes out right on time for the last batch of sales too

The fate of the webOS operating system is still uncertain, but HP is not ignoring it in the meantime, still releasing new and improved versions of the operating system.

It was discovered that HP has begun to roll out the webOS 3.0.5 update, which brings some bug fixes and some minor improvements to the TouchPad tablet.

Only members of the webOS early access program can get it though, for now.

The update is in release candidate 1 stage, which means that some final tests have to be carried out.

This piece of info comes at the same time as a different report that mentions something about the TouchPad tablet itself.

Though the mobile electronic was supposed to have stopped selling a while ago, some refurbished models will go on sale again in December.

Still, HP would have made the software update even if it hadn't planned on repeating the $99 (74 Euro) sales episode.

After all, paradoxically enough, all the webOS and TouchPad drama ended up putting HP in the lead of the non-iPad tablet market.

In other words, quite a few people out there own a TouchPad, so there will be many happy users after this latest update.

In addition to bug fixes and the like, webOS 3.0.5 brings support for HTML5 video in all screen orientations, as well as low disk space download alerts.

Whether or not webOS is picked up again by HP, the TouchPad updates should go on for a while, perhaps until a Windows 8 tablet appears.

Since it decided to keep the PC business, HP could very well try its hand at slates again whenever Microsoft launches its next operating system, as we mentioned before.

Finally, even after HP finally does shelf away all webOS efforts, TouchPad will still have fans and independent programmers to play with its features.
