System manufacturer Hewlett-Packard has just introduced two new AMD-powered desktop systems to its workstation portfolio. The two new offerings are the dc5850 and dx2450 models, the first units built for AMD's Business Class program.

According to the company, the HP Compaq dc5850 Business Desktop PC mixes optimal performance with an affordable price. Powered by the AMD 77V integrated graphics chipset, the new system offers out of the box dual-monitor support in a modern design with glossy finishes and metal surfaces.

"HP provides customers smart technology ideas and always-there expertise to help them choose the desktops that best meet their business and user needs", said Alan Reed, vice president and general manager, Personal Systems Group, HP. "The depth and breadth of HP's product offerings are a testament to our commitment to provide technologies that solve our global customers' pain points, from IT management and security, to power consumption and environmentally responsible disposal", he continued.
The dc5850 model comes with integrated ATI Radeon™ 3100 graphics with support for Microsoft's DirectX 10 graphics engine, as well as standard support for RAID technology with data mirroring capabilities.

The second computing system released by Hewlett-Packard is the HP Compaq dx2450 Business Desktop PC, which packs value features at an extremely affordable price. While the previous dc5850 offering came with integrated ATI Radeon 3100 graphics, AMD's Cool'n'Quiet 2.0 technology, up to 8GB of RAM, an optional dual-drive RAID setup and a dual-layer DVD writer, the dx2450 model has slightly lower specifications: Nvidia GeForce 6150SE graphics, up to 4GB of RAM and up to 500GB of SATA HDD space.

Both the dc5850 and the dx2450 models are targeted at business users and allow IT managers to purchase standard models without having to undergo re-validation tests for at least 24 moths. The two new offerings will be available worldwide as of May 5th and will come with price tags of $599 for the dc5850 and $369 for the dx2450.
