As one would have expected, HP definitely did not miss out on the opportunity provided by the Mobile World Congress, in this case by bringing the Touchpad tablet out in the open for all to see and admire.

One of our fellows managed to spend some time around HP's booth at the ongoing expo in Barcelona and was able to score a few photos of the tablet in question.

End-users may remember that the slate was released not overly long ago and already has its own product page on its maker's website.

The product is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-CPU APQ8060 1.2 GHz and runs the webOS operating system.

Its display has a diagonal of 9.7 inches and a native resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels, plus 18-bit color and XGA capacitive multitouch support.

Owners of the HP Touchpad should have no problem playing DRM-free MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR, QCELP and WAV audio files, in addition to MPEG-4, H.263 and H.264 videos.

Additionally, one can choose between 16 GB and 32 GB of Flash storage, meaning that it shouldn't be hard to have a decent amount of files on at all times.

As far as connectivity goes, HP threw in 802.11b/g/n WiFi with WPA, WPA2, WEP, 802.1X authentication, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, an USB 2.0 port and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel webcam for live video calling.

Other specifications include an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a compass, a light sensor, a virtual keyboard, internal stereo speakers and Beats Audio, 3.5mm stereo headset/headphone/microphone jack and a rechargeable 6300 mAhl battery.

All the above are crammed inside a package measuring 240 mm x 190 mm x 13.7 mm and weighing roughly 740 grams, the equivalent of 1.6 pounds.

Those wishing to get a vague idea of what the product looks like and does need only look through the pictured below.

Note: Fellow editors Cosmin Vasile and Alex Vochin are on the floor at the 2011 Mobile World Congress and are keeping us posted with pictures and live reports on the latest product previews and launches.
