It wasn't long ago that some information emerged concerning a certain pair of devices that HP is getting ready to launch, but already more reports have been spotted, containing further details on the hardware of one of said products.

When HP acquired Palm, it was immediately assumed that the latter's webOS operating system would be used in tablets.

Some uncertainties swam for a while after that, as the only webOS news was about printers loaded with it.

Fortunately, the prime supplier of PCs worldwide did not forget about tablets, so it has been working on the Topaz and Opal.

The former has now become the subject of leaks, one of which contains the hardware specifications and a summary of its other general features.

At the heart of the 9.7-inch slate is the Qualcomm MSM8660 chipset, which features a pair of ARM cores clocked at 1.2 GHz, as well as an Adreno 220 GPU.

To this are added 512 MB of DDR2 memory, as well as eMMC flash storage of 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB, depending on user preference. The display itself is an IPS touchscreen with a native resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels.

There is, of course, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, as well as Bluetooth, and while WWAN and GPS are not included by default, they are available as optional extras.

Furthermore, a 1.3 megapixel webcam is set on the front of the product, while a micro USB port and stereo speakers complement the rest of the spec sheet.

Finally, the Touchstone system for docked and inductive charging is supported. Also, when docked to this wireless charging unit, one should be able to perform a variety of operations, like wireless picture and website sharing, printing and streaming, among other things.

A 24Whr battery should keep the Topaz running for over 8 hours but, of course, none of this was officially confirmed, so one shouldn't assume HP won't make anymore tweaks.
