Palo Alto, California-based HP, one of the world's leading vendors of portable and desktop computer systems, has recently announced a new collaboration with world-renowned designer Vivienne Tam, which will provide customers with a new design for the PC vendor's ultraportable computer system. The new design was presented at the New York's Fashion Week event, at the debut of this past weekend, as part of Vivienne Tam's Spring 2009 collection.

This isn't the first time that the PC vendor and the designer have collaborated on a new product, as the two already announced a special design for a line of HP computer systems that was focused on providing an alternative for the female audience. The new design comes as an addition to the previously announced HP Vivienne Tam-edition laptops, providing an alternative that has apparently been inspired from the Chinese love story “Butterfly Lovers.”

“To me, butterflies symbolize love, freedom, independence and transformation,” Vivienne Tam said. “I love working with HP because they are also inspired by nature. Together we bring life, color and personality to the computer world, creating fashionable technology for modern women. The new digital clutch design embodies the inspiration for my entire spring collection,” Tam added. “When women around the globe carry HP's digital clutch and wear my clothes, I want them to feel independent and free, like butterflies.” Tam shared.

Unfortunately, despite the launch of the new 'digital clutch,' there are no details on the particular technical specifications of the new laptop, or on whether this new design will be available for current, or upcoming, HP laptops. Nevertheless, customers can rest assured that they will be able to choose from a wider range of colors and themes on HP laptops that are yet to be announced.

“With her spring collection, Vivienne channeled her creativity into a timeless design that will help HP deliver the next must-have item for fashion-forward women around the world,” Satjiv S. Chahil, senior vice president, Worldwide Marketing, Personal Systems Group, HP, explained.

According to HP, the new Vivienne Tam digital clutch is due out in spring 2010, although details on pricing and technical specifications are yet unavailable.
