The HP Stream device lineup is a getting a lot of attention these days. At first, the company launched a laptop with a 14-inch screen under this umbrella, which proved to be priced a little bit too high for the taste of a lot of consumers who were expecting something more budget-friendly.

However, a few weeks later HP rectified its “slip” and pushed out two new Stream laptops with pricing starting at $199 / €158. But the notebooks didn’t arrive alone, but accompanied by a duo of Stream tablets which amazed the audience with their super-low price tags.

HP and Microsoft build a super cheap Windows 8.1 tablet

The smaller one, which took advantage of a 7-inch display was offered for only $100 /€79 thus dethroning the Toshiba Encore Mini, as the cheapest Windows 8.1 tablet available on the Western market.

But what about the 2-in-1 category? HP is filling this one too with the brand new HP Stream x360 convertible, which arrives with a hinge that lets users push back the screen back with 360 degree, allowing the notebook to be used as a tablet.

For the time being, HP hasn't said anything about the pricing availability in the US, but the folks of Notebook Italia have managed to dig out some rate-related info, so we can get an idea. According to them, the Stream x360 will sell for €289 / €364 in Europe, with a 4G model bumping things up to €349 / $439.

However, when the convertibles arrive in the US, they should be sold under lower price tags. After all, the Stream lineup is designed for the budget oriented.

Most specs of the HP Stream x360 remain a mystery

HP hasn't revealed much about specs of the device either, but a little research online reveals a few details about the machine.

The budget Stream x360 convertible has been equipped with 3 USB ports, HDMI output, Ethernet jack, headset jack and an SD card reader.

As can be spotted in the first pictures detailing the device, the Stream hybrid has vent on the side so the hot air can exit through there. The system doesn't seem to have any vents, so the Stream x360 could end up being a fanless system, pretty much like the HP Stream 11 and Stream 13 notebooks are.

Those laptops are powered by an Intel Celeron N2840 Bay Trail low-power processor and come equipped with 32GB of internal storage. So it’s possible the configuration of the Stream x360 is quite similar.

Interested parties picking up the Stream x360 will also be awarded a full 1-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365, which grants access to apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and more. HP and Redmond also throw in 1TB of cloud storage with Microsoft OneDrive.
