HP is hosting the “Discover” Congress in Barcelona this week so the PC manufacturer took the opportunity to unveil the business variant of its Spectre 13 Ultrabook, which was released back in September.

The Spectre 13 Pro comes packing numerous enhancements and an aesthetically pleasing design so business professionals can work in style. But since looks aren't everything in this world, let’s see what lies at the core of this product.

HP has gifted the Spectre 13 Pro with a BrightView 13.3-inch IPS multi-touch Full HD screen that sports a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, Notebookcheck reports. More demanding professionals also have the opportunity to go farther and opt for a qHD display that boasts an impressive 2560 x 1440 resolution.

HP provides a backlit keyboard and a slightly unusual touchpad that has buttons nested under the sensitive surface plus two additional zones (called Control Zone) highlighted by a different color.

As with most business offerings, the machine is customizable. In the processor department professionals will be able to choose between 4th-generation Intel Core i3 or i5 processors coupled with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM, based on specific needs.

As for storage, users can opt for a 128, 256 or a 512GB SSD. Apart from that, one gets the whole host of functionalities you’d expect an Ultrabook to have, meaning there's Beats Audio, modules, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and digital video outputs miniDisplayPort.

Since there’s Haswell under the hood, we’d expect the Spectre 13 Pro to sport a decent battery life and we’re not wrong, as the producing company claims users should get 9 hours of life juice on a single charge. That will certainly prove useful for travelling professionals looking to get work done.

Being a business laptop, the Spectre 13 Pro brings some much-needed security enhancements like TPM hardware-based encryption for sensitive data, a Kensington security slot and the Dragon Assistant which permits interacting with the system via vocal commands.

The HP Spectre 13 Pro runs the typical Windows 8.1 interface and its base configuration will sell for $999 / €724.
