Since it is the world's greatest supplier of PCs, it is not surprising that HP wants to stay ahead of competition in every PC-related field, and the outfit has now taken another step forward by supporting an even faster wireless technology that before.

Simply put, HP set up a sort of collaboration with Verizon and became the first company to launch laptops that support the latter's 4G LTE network

The machines in question are the HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr and Compaq CQ10-688nr, both of them having a thickness of under 1 inch.

The Pavilion has a screen size of 11.6 inches and the AMD Fusion technology, while the other one settles for a 10.1-inch display and the Atom N455 CPU.

“The HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr Notebook PC and the Compaq CQ10-688nr provide our customers the reliability they’ve come to expect from our network combined with our new 4G LTE speeds -- all within compact, yet extremely powerful computers,” said Marni Walden, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless.

“As the first notebook PCs to use the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, they demonstrate our commitment to bringing our customers a wide breadth of devices to suit their mobile needs,” Walden added.

“We’re excited to offer the first notebook PC and mini for Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE network,” said Todd Achilles, vice president, North America Service Providers, Personal Systems Group, HP.

“Through our collaboration, customers will experience true mobile computing via compact, stylish PCs and blazing speed,” he went on to say.

The Verizon 4G LTE Mobile broadband Network is said to be the fastest 4G network in the US and was launched last month, in December 2010.

That said, both newcomers can be turned into mobile hotspots, meaning that other WiFi devices will be able to take advantage of the Internet Connection Sharing application to access the web.
