HP has pushed out into the world a brand new tablet/laptop convertible, the Pavilion x2 11, back in November, and now the device has been discreetly made available for purchase from the official website, for a price starting at $600 / €437.

Hybrids are devices that can be used both in tablet and laptop mode and the HP Pavilion is no different here, as it ships with a detachable keyboard. Convertibles seem to be very popular these days, and brand vendors offer customers a wide array of choices.

So you may be wondering what sets this particular convertible apart from the others? Well, the fact that it bundles at its core an Intel Pentium N3510 processor, for one.

Pentium N3510 chips are based on Intel’s Silvermont architecture, the same that can be found with Intel’s Atom Bay Trail that currently powers tablets such as the ASUS Transformer Pad T100 and Dell Venue 8 Pro.

So you should expect the HP Pavilion x2 11 to offer the same improved performance and longer battery life. After all, the Pentium N3510 chip is based on a 22nm processor with TDP (Thermal Design Power) of 7.5 watts and SDP (Scenario Design Power) of 4.5 watts, so it should actually run faster than the Atom's.

The Pentium chips support up to 8GB of RAM, while Atom's can usually house up to 4GB of RAM support, so there will be an obvious difference.

The hybrid should be capable of sustaining a pretty long-ish battery life of 8 hours and 45 minutes, although at this moment it’s unclear whether this can be achieved with the keyboard being docked or not, or whether the keyboard has an extra battery attached to it.

Apart from that, the Pavilion x2 has an 11.6-inch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and also comes equipped with 4GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, a USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 port, and HDMI out.
