HP, not long ago, issued a press release in which it announced the coming of a full list of business-oriented mobile computers, and it seems that there is even a line intended for SMBs with more or less modest financial backing.

As some end-users may have noticed, IT companies have different tactics when it comes to the consumer and business sectors, respectively.

Basically, consumer-oriented devices get launched one or few at a time, usually, while enterprise releases come in full sets.

That said, HP unveiled three collections of mobile computers for the business sector just a short time ago, those being EliteBook, ProBook b-Series and, now, ProBook s-Seires.

The announcement named five of the latter type, those being 4230s, 4330s, 4430s, 4530s and 4730s, with screen sizes of 12.1 inches, 13.3 inches, 14 inches, 15.6 inches and 17.3 inches, respectively.

In addition to business use, they are said to also be fit for home multimedia purposes, as they are powered by second-generation Intel Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 chips.

Assets cited in the press release are a gesture-supporting touchpad, SRS Premium Sound, dual-array microphones (optional) and built-in HD webcam. What's more, all of them boast spill-resistant keyboards set in a full aluminum deck.

All the above specs are packed inside durable, brushed-aluminum cases colored metallic gray.

Basically, the ProBook s-Series can be said to be “an excellent, affordable choice for small and midsize businesses.”

Those customers intent on acquiring any of the five laptops will have to wait until March 15, as that is when shipments will start (as was the case for the EliteBook and ProBook b).

The starting price tag chosen by the world's greatest PC maker is of $579. What remains to be seen is how well the machines are received by their target market segment, especially now that the consequences of the recession have lessened.
