Following HP's last week announcement of dropping its webOS business, several carriers and major retailers in the United States have already started to take the appropriate measures, so they can get rid of any webOS device they have in stocks as quickly as possible.

Although Best Buy has recently denied that it axed HP TouchPad's price, most of the retailers are selling webOS devices at incredibly low prices.

In this regard, it appears that AT&T has just cancelled HP Pre 3's launch event, including all orders for the smartphone that was expected to be available for purchase in the next couple of days.

According to the guys over at webOSroundup, who managed to get their hands on an internal mail from a US parts supplier, the HP Pre 3's launch was canceled last weekend:

This device launch has been completely cancelled. Please cancel all bulk orders and stop all work on packaging for XXX SKU(XXX).” Even though the document does not contain any explanations regarding the sudden cancellation of the webOS smartphone, the reasons are pretty obvious if we take into consideration HP's canceling of any support for all webOS hardware.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the end of the HP Pre 3 in the United States, especially if one of the major carriers decided to cancel all its orders for the smartphone across the country.

It will be interesting to see what will happen with the upcoming HP TouchPad 4G that was supposed to be released by the same carrier in the next few weeks.

However, we can safely assume that the carrier will cancel all webOS devices, including any tablets, so we should look for the TouchPad 4G elsewhere.

We doubt that there will be other U.S.-based operators willing to carry the HP Pre 3, but anything is possible.
