Apparently, HP intends to make good use of Palm's IP and, even though it won't actually focus on mobile phones, reportedly plans to invest in the creation of various webOS devices, though no real details exist so far besides plans to unleash the hurricane software platform.

According to a report made by Fudzilla recently, the next year will be full of announcement of new webOS devices, dozens in fact.

“The stuff that excites me the most are the new form factors… Over the next 12 months we will see the makings of a new portfolio and the beginning of something great again,” reportedly said HP CTO Rahul Sood.

The CTO decided not to go into the specifics, leaving speculations to figure out exactly what type of electronics these devices will be.

What's more, a different report, this one made by X-bit Labs, states that, even though HP originally intended to release new smartphones besides tablets and netbooks with webOS, it has decided to set aside, more or less, its mobile phone plans.

The company also seems to have decided upon dropping the Android operating system when it comes to not only smartphones, but tablets as well.

In the meantime, the Palm division has been working on the webOS 2.0 OS, which should bring improvements to the overall feature set and interface.

“HP voted with its pocketbook. It’s all about focus," said Jon Rubinstein, the head of HP's Palm division that is primarily responsible for webOS software development and webOS based hardware products, said in an interview with the Financial Times.

The webOS will be features in a variety of web-connected electronics, including printers, though the IT player has yet to actually say anything specific about the rest of its plans.

The webOS tablet OS is known as the Hurricane and will actually become available early next year, though it will debut only after HP's Windows 7 slate comes out.
