Want a cheap little laptop that won’t burn a hole in your budget? And if you don’t want Intel onboard powering everything, we have just the thing for you.

One of the first notebooks running on the AMD Mullins platform has been made available in the form of the HP Pavilion 10z, and you can pick one up for as little as $250 / €185.

AMD’s Mullins platform has been designed to go into low-cost tablets and notebooks and that’s exactly what we’re seeing come out of HP. They are akin to Intel’s Atom family of products, but they should be able to deliver better graphics performance.

The chip inside this little 10-inch laptop is the AMD E1 Micro-6200T which is a 1.4GHz dual-core processor with 300 MHz AMD Radeon R2 graphics. The chip boasts 3.95W TDP.

Completing the specifications lists are 2GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, 1 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI and Ethernet, headset jack, stereo speakers and SD card reader.

Sadly, HP offers only the bland 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, but for a budget laptop like this, you shouldn't be expecting more. Another negative point is that HP has slipped in a small 24Whr battery, so you can hope to get only 4 hours of life juice out of the Pavilion 10z.
