HP today launched a whole host of products, including the ultrabook Specter line. Consumers will have the option of choosing between the standard touch-enabled Ultrabook and another variant that comes with a detachable keyboard.

Let's start with the convertible Spectre 13x2. When the display is removed, you end up with a 13-inch tablet powered by an Intel Haswell processor with a 1080 p display.

For prolonged working hours, users can quickly switch to laptop mode by adding the keyboard, which comes with an embedded second battery. In addition, you also get USB and HDMI ports and SD card.

What's important to note at this point is that the device doesn't have a fan. It's an innovation that will bring forth more serene, noise free, laptoping experiences.

The Spectre 13x2 will be available for pre-order starting October 16, with prices beginning at $1,099 / €811.

Now moving on to the more consistent Specter 13 Ultrabook. Even if here snapping off the keyboard is an obsolete operation, the Spectre 13 is still an interesting addition to the HP portfolio.

It's made for a single piece of machined aluminum, so it looks very solid and indestructible. What you'll find extra with this variant is the super-wide touchpad with wings.

These wings allow users to access Windows 8 edge gestures without actually touching the touchscreen per se.

The pre-order period for this model kick starts on October 16 as well with prices from $999 / €737.
