Just now, HP has made available a new Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) firmware release, namely version 1.50 developed for the producer’s ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 system, which is compatible with Microsoft’s Windows Server 2008 and 2012 platforms.

This newly-released update includes several changes that should improve overall performance, stability, and usability.

Specifically speaking, this new version adds an SNMP trap for Uncorrectable Machine Check Error and includes several performance improvements for iLO Federation Management queries. Also, the Multicast now displays the proper iLO version number.

In addition to that, the problem with the SSH keys that couldn’t be imported using XML and the one regarding the auto power on feature that were encountered after applying the previous 1.40 version have been resolved.

Moreover, various Java IRC-related issues have been fixed, the AlertMail communicates correctly between iLO Web interface and CLI, and users can now delete multiple iLO Federation Management groups in an order.

If HP’s latest firmware is installed, the SERVER_POST_STATE element will not be missing anymore, and numerous problems with the iLO occasionally not responding to multicast M-SEARCH requests and Virtual Media CD-ROM or crashing in certain circumstances have also been resolved.

That being said, download HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 iLO 4 Firmware 1.50, apply it on your system, and enjoy the improvements that this release brings.
