Palo Alto, California-based HP has just announced a series of updates to its line of portable computer systems, providing users with some more affordable products. The biggest news about the company's notebook update is that prices for the Pavilion dv2z and dv3t have been reduced, while the vendor's dv6 series has received a couple of new members, in the form of the new dv6t and dv6z Artist Edition. In addition, HP also introduced low-priced all-in-one printing solutions, designed to meet the requirements of students worldwide.

With the announcements, fans of the AMD Athlon Neo-powered Pavilion dv2 laptop will be able to take advantage of a new US$599 price tag, putting HP's AMD-based ultrathin portable PC in a price range of some high-end netbook systems. In addition, the company's larger dv3t laptop now starts at just US$649, providing users with a larger 13.3-inch display, an Intel processor and a choice for an integrated Intel graphics or NVIDIA's GeForce G 105M GPU. To round up the list of updates, HP's new dv6 series now includes a standard model, starting at US$649, and an HP Pavilion dv6z Artist Edition 2, which comes with a starting price of US$949. The latter takes advantage of the 2008 HP MTV Notebook Design Contest, featuring a design inspired by the sea and sky in Okinawa, Japan.

In addition to the new laptop updates, HP also announced the Photosmart Plus All-in-One and the Photosmart C4780 All-in-one printers, providing users with a “green” alternative to printing, scanning and copying various documents and photos. Priced at US$149 and US$129, respectively, these new all-in-one devices are said to provide students with all the necessary tools to print their documents.

In addition, the company also highlighted the Deskjet D1600 Printer series and the Officejet 6000 printer, priced at US$39 and US$89/US$119 wireless, respectively. These two are said to meet the requirements of students on a budget.
