Hewlett-Packard's Linux imaging and printing software, HPLIP, reached version 3.15.4, an important release that introduces support for new hardware architectures, new Linux kernel-based operating systems, new printers, as well as fixes for several issues reported by users since the previous version.

According to the release notes, HPLIP 3.15.4 offers driver plugin support for various popular ARM architectures, including ARMv6, ARMv7, and AArch64 (also known as ARM64). Furthermore, support for the Linux Mint 17.1, and soon-to-be-released Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) and Debian 8.0 (Jessie) operating system has been added as well.

As mentioned, HPLIP 3.15.4 adds support for new printers, including HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw, HP Color LaserJet Pro M252n, HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277n, HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw, HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553n, HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553dn, and HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553x.

Moreover, the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553dh, HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M552dn, HP LaserJet Enterprise M604n, HP LaserJet Enterprise M604dn, HP LaserJet Enterprise M605dn, HP LaserJet Enterprise M605n, HP LaserJet Enterprise M605x, HP LaserJet Enterprise M606x, and HP LaserJet Enterprise M606dn printers are also supported with this release.

Several annoying bugs have been fixed in HPLIP 3.15.4

In addition to the new features mentioned above, HPLIP 3.15.4 fixes several annoying bugs that were present in previous releases, such as an issue with the "Auto agree with license" option, which is now set by default while the application's dependencies are resolved during automatic installation.

Among other bugfixes, we can mention an installation failure that occurred when the "Downloads" directory didn't exist on the host system, an issue with the Fedora Linux 20 operating system related to flashing "ready light" after a completed print job, and incompatibilities between Reportlab Pre-2.0 and hp-sendfax.
