The HP ePrint Service app is now available as a free download for owners of an Apple iPhone, iPod touch 4th generation, or iPad 2, allowing them to print within their enterprise network via an HP Managed Print Services engagement, or print at thousands of HP ePrint mobile print locations worldwide.

According to an announcement from HP today, millions of iPhone users can now download the ePrint Service app to print e-mails, documents, web pages, and photos on the go.

As long as the customer is connected to the Internet, the AirPrint function the app will look for an AirPrint compatible printer and get the job done in a few taps of the screen.

iOS 4.2 is required, as well as the aforementioned device models.

“By 2014, 90 percent of global Fortune 1000 companies will implement cloud printing services for mobile personnel,(2) showing what HP has known for years – mobility is not a trend, it’s a way of life,” said Bruce Dahlgren, senior vice president, Managed Enterprise Solutions, Imaging and Printing Group, HP.

“We are committed to anticipating our customer needs and delivering innovative solutions like HP ePrint Enterprise for our enterprise customers that need simple, secure mobile access to printing,” Dahlgren added.

To print to an AirPrint compatible HP printer, users select the item they want printed out, choose “Apple AirPrint” on the printer selection menu, search for a printer on the network, choose print options, and tap Print.

To print to one of HP’s registered public locations, users must first select the content they want to print (email, web page, photo, clipboard, iTunes Shared file, etc.), search for a public print location by entering keywords, or the “Near me” button and hit Print.

Using the app, customers can also check job details from the “History” list.

These include pickup code, status, print service address and map location, phone number, store hours and payment methods.

Support for HP ePrint Enterprise, the private cloud-based solution for corporate network printers, is optional. Those who wish to use it must purchase a license separately.
