Microsoft’s Surface is alive and kicking, but HP’s Head of PC, Todd Bradley, makes fun of the Redmond-based technology company’s first effort in the hardware industry.

Bradley said in an interview with IDG Enterprise that consumers prefer to stay away from the Surface and it’s the press that made the tablet such an important player in the industry.

“Holistically, the press has made a bigger deal out of Surface than what the world has chosen to believe,” he said. “I'd hardly call Surface competition.”

What’s more, he said Microsoft’s Surface is very expensive and it “tends to be slow and kludgey as you use it.”

Bradley also talked about Microsoft’s strategy to sell the Surface in its own stores exclusively, claiming that such a strategy seriously hurts sales.

The “very limited distribution” doesn’t make it a serious threat for the rest of the industry, he said.
