HP has recently expanded its notebook collection with a new entry-level model based on AMD's C and E-Series accelerated processing units, which targets budget conscious buyers looking for a basic portable computing solution.

The notebook is built around a 15.6-inch LED backlit display with a native resolution of just 1366x768 pixels, which is driven by the integrated graphics core found inside AMD's APUs.

Users have the option of choosing between three single and dual-core chip models, the C-50, E-240 and E-350, which can be paired with as much as 8GB of DDR3 system memory.

As many of you most probably know, the E-350 is the fastest of the three APUs available as it sports dual 1.6GHz processing cores, 1MB of Level 2 cache, and a 492MHz clocked Radeon HD 6310 GPU, all fitted inside an 18W TDP.

The powerful integrated graphics enables the notebook to handle Blu-ray quality HD video, while also providing some power for a few light gaming sessions.

Storage is provided by 250 to 500GB hard drives with a spindle speed of 5400RPM and the standard configuration of the 2000z also includes super-multi double layer DVD burner.

The rest of the specifications list is pretty much standard for such an entry-level notebook and it includes fast Ethernet LAN, 802.11 b/g/n and optional Bluetooth connectivity, a multi-format card reader, a webcam and Altec Lansing speakers.

Including the 6-cell battery pack that can provide up to 5.5 hours of running time according to HP, the 2000z weights 5.5 lbs.
