HP has fanless thin clients and some with quad-core CPUs, but this is the first with both

Quad-core central processing units are, by nature, hot when working, especially at full load, which is why they can't normally survive without an active cooler. HP has managed to overcome that limitation here though.

The company has formally launched the HP t620 Flexible Series Thin Client, which uses an AMD GX dual- or quad-core processor and Radeon HD professional graphics.

The case doubles as a heatsink and still has room for all the basics. Memory and storage weren't detailed, but HP did say that the t620 could power two 30-inch 2,560 x 1,600 displays.

Add a factory-installed video card and up to four displays can be handled at once, making the system good for info terminals.

HP's new thin client also has integrated Fiber NIC and Ethernet, plus VGA or serial ports, along with enterprise-level security and network management.
