HP Introduces the Fastest Offering for Oracle Optimized Warehouse

- HP and Oracle worked together to provide customers with the world's fastest, most energy-efficient 1-to-4-terabyte offering for Oracle Optimized Warehouse

By: Ionut Arghire, Windows Editor

Hewlett Packard announced today the introduction of the industry’s highest-performance, most energy-efficient blade offering aligned within the Oracle Optimized Warehouse initiative for the 1-to-4-terabyte market area.

The HP BladeSystem for Oracle Optimized Warehouse is developed based on today's reference
configuration solutions available from HP and Oracle for data warehousing. The pre-configured, appliance-like offering has as components the HP BladeSystem and Oracle Database, and it encourages customers to invest more in business innovation rather then in server maintenance. It offers better performance and faster implementation, all going towards higher energy efficiency.

The new offering is intended for medium to large size businesses, which are now enabled to load within hours the data that previously took weeks to load to data warehouse.

The too companies worked closely in the development of the joint offering, allowing customers to enjoy up to 2.5 times higher performance and about 65 percent reduced energy costs, in comparison to other offerings within the Oracle initiative. The rising cost of power and the reduction of data center budgets are counterbalanced by the savings that come from performance and energy efficiency.

"Customers are looking to harness information to drive profit and growth," said Ben Barnes, vice president and general manager, Business Intelligence, HP. "With our new HP BladeSystem offering, along with a comprehensive business intelligence portfolio and a world-class services organization, HP is able to meet customers’ business intelligence needs today and into the future."

The joint offering is founded on the HP BladeSystem, which brings the base elements for the data warehouse infrastructure, compute, storage, interconnect and management, all gathered into a modular, self-optimizing unit. Customers can save time, power and money through the use of the infrastructure in a box that the HP BladeSystem brings both to small or large data centers. The networking can be simplified with Virtual Connect technology, Thermal Logic improves power and cooling concerns, while Insight Control helps by bringing management enhancements.

"HP has teamed with Oracle to develop a data warehouse solution that is easy to purchase and deploy," said Ray Roccaforte, vice president, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence Platform, Oracle. "It’s no surprise that the combined innovation of Oracle and HP means leading performance and unprecedented energy efficiency for data warehousing."

The global technology distributor Avnet Technology Solutions makes the HP BladeSystem for Oracle Optimized Warehouse available through its select network of resellers and system integrators. The offering is expected to start shipping in July.

"Companies are looking for partners who can help them quickly turn their information into a valuable asset," said Rick Alvarez, vice president and general manager, HP Solutions Group, Avnet Technology Solutions Americas. "By working with HP and Oracle, we can provide our value-added resellers with business intelligence solutions that are simple and affordable for their end-user customers."

HP also offers a full line of business intelligence accelerators beyond the HP BladeSystem for Oracle Optimized Warehouse, meant to speed delivery and control costs further more. The range includes pre-built modules of code that perform data-centric functions; reference configurations, models and guides that capture best practice reference points; plus templates and models for companies in specific vertical industries.
