Those that have been keeping track of such things will know that HP just announced a complete strategy for telehealth programs, and it seems said plans involve more than just the HP Slate 500.

HP may be known as the world's greatest supplier of PCs, but its business extends well beyond the consumer segment.

This has been made more than clear just recently, when the company issued a press release in which it speaks of its contribution to telehealth advancement.

While the slate is going to be an integral part of telehealth in emergency situation, HP also considered means to enable remote access to bandwidth-intensive imaging and archiving solutions.

To that end, HP has put together the EliteBook 8540w and EliteBook 8740w mobile workstations, featuring the HP DreamColor LED-backlit display technology..

Essentially, that display solution grants a higher brightness and resolution that usual, as well as wide viewing angles and color depth.

They were developed in collaboration with Canvys, making them the first notebooks compliant with the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) 3.14 calibration standard.

DICOM 3.14 defines how pixel values should be interpreted or displayed, as well as how digital image data can be transferred between systems.

What's more, they should give healthcare professional better remote access to a complete virtual PACS solution, which hosts high-quality images in the cloud, thanks to integration with Medweb.

Other things allowed by Medweb include boosts to security and speed of image and records storage for specialists, radiologists and physicians.

The final service released by HP is known simply as Parental Health and allows seniors to connect face-to-face with doctors, dispatch physicians in case of emergencies or simply to book medical appointments.

The company figured HP TouchSmart 9100 and the HP TouchSmart 9300 Elite AiOs (all-in-one PCs), loaded Parental Health’s Medical Information Systems To You (MISTY) software will readily fulfill this function.
