With all the things that HP has been going through, things are shaky at best, but it looks like the uncertainties are only deepening now that yet another executive is leaving.

In a move similar and, at the same time, unlike the one that led to the change of CEO, HP is going through another executive roster change.

At this point, it isn't exactly clear if HP is deliberately doing what it is doing or if the executive in question is leaving of his own initiative.

All that was said is that the Chief Strategy and Technology Officer Shane Robinson will leave the company next month.

Regardless of how pleasant the departure turns out to be, the fact is that this is still a fairly major corporate choice.

It is also the first big change that happens to the company since Meg Whitman assumed the mantle of CEO.

For those who want some background information on Robinson, he became a part of HP when Compaq was bought and then helped with the business integration, among other things.

Thus, it is difficult to ascertain whether this roster modification is a good or bad thing for HP. Analysts and HP itself will, ultimately, be the judges of that.

In the meantime, the company is still figuring out what to do about Leo Apotheker's decision to spin off the PC business, as well as the strategy for other segments, like (expectedly) tablets.

Either way, the events of the recent months are a departure from HP's usual, conservative behavior, the one that got it to thrive even as it missed some trends.

Chief Strategy and Technology Officer Shane Robinson will officially leave his position with HP on November 1.

That is about ten days from now and, according to the report, the the man won't be replaced, although the exit will be “graceful.”
