HP, one of the most important computer manufacturers in the whole world, announced the official launch of a new line of server computer systems based on the new Intel processors which are quad core and multiprocessor enabled. The new servers from HP are all based on the Intel Xeon 7300 series of central processing units and they feature high energy efficiency as well as high performance for customers running data intensive business applications.

The manufacturing company announced several products like the HP ProLiant DL580 G5 server which comes with a rack mounted configuration as well as the HP ProLiant BL680c G5, which are both the first servers from HP featuring four central processing units that are based on the quad core technology. As these product lines are expanding the unique HP blade server design, they offer increased performance coupled with energy and space saving features as well as ease of installation and service. Apart from the quad core processors' introduction, the DL580 G5 model also comes with a doubled random access memory capacity. "HP has a long history of bringing innovative server platforms to market on time," said James Mouton, senior vice president and general manager, Industry Standard Servers at HP, who was cited in the company's press release concerning these servers. "These systems allow customers to meet their rapidly growing virtualization and energy-efficiency needs."

The HP ProLiant DL580 G5 is a blade server featuring four quad core Intel processors which makes it the ideal solution for running virtualization software suites and mission critical data center applications. Because of its larger system memory as well as superior technology, this server can help enterprises run more applications on a reduced number of physical machines with increased productivity. The second server model from HP, the ProLiant BL680c G5, is another machine built specifically for high performance and CPU intensive applications as it is a part of the HP BladeSystem portfolio which was designed from the start to offer extended virtualization support, power saving technologies and ease of management and deployment. "Using Intel Xeon 7300 series quad-core processors, HP ProLiant servers are delivering unprecedented performance and energy efficiency," said Tom Kilroy, vice president and general manager, Digital Enterprise Group, Intel Corporation. "The new four socket, quad-core Xeon processor systems will provide 16 cores that enable HP to provide customers with superior levels of scalability, virtualization performance and improve their ability to run mission-critical applications."

When running a series of specialized server benchmarking applications on these HP made machines it becomes clear that the ProLiant DL580 G5 system is one of the fastest performing systems in the whole industry thanks to its Intel Xeon quad core processors. That HP server is offering higher performance than the IBM Power6 based server systems at almost half the cost. All new HP servers are now available for purchase at a starting price for the DL580 G5 model of $9,219 and the BL680c G5 at $9,669.
