Google and HP’s feud with the pesky overheating Chromebook 11 chargers appears to go on. The devices were already pulled off retail shelves and everywhere online ever since November 13 and now the US Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall which offers some more information about the real extent of the problem.

The report indicates more than 145,000 chargers could end up being affected by the problem. It also explains that Google and HP decided to halt the sales of the device, after receiving “nine reports of chargers overheating and melting during use.”

“There is one report of a small burn to a consumer and one report of minor property damage to a pillow form an overheating charger.”

So if you have an HP Chromebook 11 in your possession, you are entitled to contact Google and ask for a free new charger, says the Commission. Or you could try using any other micro-USB charger instead. But making Google pay might seem a more attractive option for some consumers.
