The problem isn't affecting a lot of users, at the moment

We reported earlier today, that BestBuy has started pulling the HP Chromebook 11 off shelves. The device has also disappeared off the Google and HP store, as well as Amazon. So what exactly is happening here?

Apparently, some users have been complaining that their notebook chargers were damaged due to overheating. Even if the complaints seem to be limited, HP and Google took the extreme measure of halting sales for the devices, as an official response posted on the Chrome Blog explains.

The blog post advises users of the Chrome enhanced notebook to stop using the dedicated charger and instead rely on a third-party micro USB charger. Google and HP also add that the charger should be listed with Underwriters Laboratories, preferably one provided by a tablet or smartphone.

Google and HP launched the Chromebook 11 in early October for an affordable price tag of $279 / €207. And just after a month, the device seems to have been eradicated from everywhere.
