They should be fit for consumers, retail, education, healthcare and government customers

Last time we wrote about HP and its plans, we were looking at the future, but now we have a more immediate concern to occupy our thoughts, though nothing unfortunate.

Indeed, “concern” isn't precisely the best word to use here, unlike when the decision was taken to let go of 8,000 european employees or to put ARM second again.

What the company did this time around was launch two all-in-one business/professional computers (also good for government, education and healthcare), plus a pair of all-in-one PCs.

We'll get the consumer-oriented AiOs out of the way first. Called ENVY 23 and Pavilion 23, they will start shipping on August 5 and measure 23 inches in screen diagonal.

The Envy 23 ($950 / €775) lets buyers choose between Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs and AMD Trinity APUs. That said, regardless of the processor, the system gets up to 2 TB of storage space, HDMI-in port, a Blu-ray drive, a TV tuner, Beats Audio and a free-standing design with edge-to-edge glass.

As for the native resolution of the LCD, it is, naturally, 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The Pavilion 23 has a similar screen and storage support, but its lesser CPU/APU options (No Core i7 here) are reflected in the lower price ($650 / €530).

And now we get to the Compaq Elite 8300 and Compaq Pro 6300, which possess 23-inch and 21-inch displays, respectively.

The former will begin selling on September 10, for $929 (€757, give or take), while the latter will be even quicker, with September 3 as an ETA ($799 / €651).

Compaq Elite 8300 may use a second-generation or third-generation Intel Core CPU (Sandy Bridge / Ivy Bridge) and gets touch support. Pro 6300 lacks touch input and may even sell without a camera (the 2MP one on the front is optional), but at least it has HP ProtectTools software.

"Customers have been asking for all-in-one PC designs that do not compromise on performance, reliability or security," said Emilio Ghilardi, vice president, PC Division, Americas, HP. "With these sleek, elegant designs and powerful options, HP continues to innovate to meet the needs of a growing marketplace."
