The Guardian said that, according to inside sources, HP is about to truly and completely shut down the webOS division.

This isn't exactly a surprise, considering how it just exhausted webOS tablet supply and how the last webOS stores closed some time ago.

Then again, when HP said it would be keeping the PC business, some hopefuls may have dared to wonder if perhaps webOS would get another chance too.

The Guardian says that no, this won't happen, at least according to so-called internal sources who also said that over 500 people will be laid off between now and next month (November, 2011).

To give a clearer picture, one of the webOS employees said that there was a 95% chance of this happening.

Knowing all this, if HP does try its hand at tablets again, it will be with Windows 8.
