Upgraded specifications and a few design tweaks

HP announced the availability of a new laptop from the Pavillion series of mobile computer systems, the model dv2500t, which is intended as a multimedia machine for home and office use. The system is based on Intel Centrino mobile technology and it comes with a wireless networking card included, allowing users to connect to the Web without the burden of running an Ethernet cable.

The new laptop from HP is entirely based on Intel mobile technology and it comes equipped with a central processing unit from the Intel Core 2 Duo family of processors. Users may scale the computing power of their system, according to their desires and available budget, as they can choose form a wide range of processors starting with the model T5250 which runs at 1.5GHz,has 2MB L2 cache memory and uses a 667MHz frontside bus and going to the faster T7500 processor that runs at a standard clock frequency of 2.2GHz while having 4MB of cache memory and an 800MHz frontside bus.

On the display side, all HP Pavillion dv2500t laptops come with a 14.1 inch widescreen which supports a native resolution of 1280x800 and implements the BrightView technology in order to create crystal sharp images with life-like contrast and coloring. To back up the display, HP integrated into its latest line of notebooks a dedicated discrete Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS graphics card that comes with 319MB of dedicated video memory.

On the random access memory side, users again have the opportunity to scale the performance of their desired laptop as three solutions are available: 1GB, 2GB and 4GB DDR2 memories packed in two memory slots. On the networking department, the HP laptop comes with an integrated wireless card which supports the latest draft 802.11n standard as well as the older 802.11a/b/g standards. For users who do not have access to a wireless network, an Ethernet port is provided as well, while a Bluetooth controller is available too.

Users may choose from two storage solutions, an 160GB hard disk drive with 5400rpm and a Serial ATA II interface and a 250GB hard drive which is too based on the SATA data transferring interface. A SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW optical drive with Double Layer support is also available as a standard option, or users may select the optional LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW drive. As this laptop is intended as a multimedia center, HP is also providing a TV tuner with integrated support for both digital and analog signal standards which is connectible with the host computer system via the ExpressCard port.

On the operating system side, the new HP Pavillion dv2500t laptops are coming with Microsoft Windows Vista Home pre-installed and users may also opt to upgrade to the Business or Ultimate editions. A number of other general options are also available like the HP imprint finish of the case named Radiance, a security fingerprint reader as well as a Web camera with attached microphone.
