Last month, Hewlett-Packard, the leading maker of portable computer systems, announced the new HDX16 and HDX18 entertainment notebook PCs. Designed to deliver an incredible high-definition support in 16- and 18-inch form factors, the HP recently introduced portable systems are equipped with some of the latest in computing technology. Now, the 18-inch HDX18 notebook is available for shipping.

“HP’s new consumer notebooks and TouchSmart PC deliver smart and creative ways to engage the wealth of photos, videos, music and entertainment that was previously stuck on our PCs gathering digital dust,” said Stephen DeWitt, senior vice president, Personal Systems Group, HP. “HP is developing new products and solutions that help make connecting to people and information simple and fun and create a truly personalized computing experience.”

The company's latest portable systems have been built to accommodate the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors, in order to enable a high quality entertainment notebook PC. Featuring 18.4-inch and 16-inch LCD screens, they can provide a more than decent viewing experience for entertainment enthusiasts. From the two, the 18-inch model is the most likely to deliver that HD quality you have been searching for in your notebook.

With a starting price tag of $1,549.99, users can configure the HDX18 with several Intel Core 2 Duo processors, as well as a Quad QX9300 running at 2.53GHz. The notebook can be equipped with a maximum of 8GB of DDR2 memory, while the graphics will be handled by a discrete NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, which packs 512MB of memory. As far as storage is concerned, the HDX18 can provide a maximum of 640GB, using two 320GB HDDs.

Aside from that, you will also get an Intel Wireless-N card with optional Bluetooth, Blu-Ray ROM with Double Layer DVD R/RW optical drive, your choice of a Windows Vista operating system and an 8-cell Lithium Ion battery. The extra options will certainly push the price tag over the $2,000 mark, but you will at least be certain that your HDX18 portable system can offer you the necessary performance.
