As we are getting nearer to the official launch of the Radeon HD 6790, more and more pictures of various solutions built on top of AMD's Barts LE core start popping out online and the latest such graphics card to be pixelized is the HIS 6790 IceQ X.

The video card doesn't seem to differ too much from the HD 6850 and HD 6870 IceQ solutions built by HIS as it uses the same trademark cooling system that relies on four heatpipes for drawing the heat away from the core and into an aluminum heatsink.

This covers most of the printed circuit board (PCB) of the HIS Radeon HD 6790 and is seconded by two heatspreaders installed over the memory and by a low-profile heatsink which chills the VRMs.

Speaking of the memory, the Radeon HD 6790 comes standard with 1GB of GDDR5 clocked at 4200MHz, but HIS has raised this frequency so the chips now work at 4400MHz. The GPU was also overclocked as it now operates 60MHz over AMD's stock 840MHz.

The rest of the card's specs were not listed, but from what we do know from previous leaks, the HD 6790 is based on the Barts LE core and packs 800 stream processors, 40 texturing units and 32 ROP units.

In terms of performance, the card is expected to sit somewhere between the HD 5770 and the HD 6850 and, and some early benchmarks have shown that, in Crysis, its performance closely resembles that of the Nvidia GTX 560 1GB.

The load power consumption of the two rival cards is also similar, although Nvidia's solution is a bit more energy efficient when sitting at the Windows desktop in idle mode.

No details regarding the pricing of the card are available at this moment, but AMD's recommended price for the Radeon HD 6790 is set at $150. (via Zol.com.cn)
