The R600 graphics processing unit together with several of its variations is found on the latest AMD family of graphics cards which are available under the commercial name of Radeon HD 2xxx. This product line, ranging from the entry level Radeon HD 2000 to the extreme performance Radeon HD 2900XT, was created as a response to Nvidia's GeForce 8xxx line. Fully compatible at a hardware level with the latest specifications of the DirectX 10 API, the Radeon product line just got bigger as HIS announced the addition of the Radeon HD 2900PRO graphics card to its offerings.

The Radeon HD 2900PRO graphics processing unit is essentially identical at the hardware level with the Radeon HD 2900XT GPU, with the exception of the core running speeds which are lower and of course the price tag which is rumored to be in the general vicinity of $249.

The HIS Radeon HD 2900PRO graphics card is CrossFire enabled and it comes with built-in HDMI and 5.1 surround audio which, along with the hardware DirectX 10.0 compatibility, makes it perfect for the latest games and intensive applications. Thanks to the presence of the second generation of the unified shader engine, this card should be able to deliver some serious high performance and stunning visual effects which are further enhanced by the presence of no less than 320 stream processing units and a wide 512-bit 8-channel memory interface.

As widescreen and high resolution monitors are very popular nowadays in both homes and offices, the HIS Radeon HD 2900PRO graphics card offers integrated support for the ATI Avivo HD video and display technology. Apart from these already impressive features, the newest graphics processing unit from AMD and all products integrating it are fully supported by the latest Microsoft operating system, Windows Vista, and they deliver improved graphics performance and stability as well as an ''immersive HD gaming experience'', according to the news site nordichardware that cites a manufacturing company press release.

The HIS Radeon HD 2900Pro graphics card comes with 512MB of dedicated video DDR3 memory and it is built using the 80 nanometer fabrication process. Featuring a graphics processing unit running at a lower clock speed of 600MHz than the top of the line Radeon 2900XT, the 2900PRO version also comes with a video memory frequency of 1600MHz, while using the PCI Express system bus.

Getting back to its features, the newest HIS graphics card also comes with a high speed 128-bit based High Dynamic Range, HDR for short, and it is capable of using a 24x custom anti-aliasing filter. In order to be able to fully deliver the gaming experience most users are looking for, the new HIS Radeon HD 2900Pro graphics card has extensive game physics processing capabilities while offering dynamic geometry acceleration too.
