Naturally, now that ATI, the business unit of Advanced Micro Devices, sent out yet another DirectX 11 card, the HD 5450, companies are already following suite with their own models. Hightech Information Systems is also joining the bandwagon with three of its own products. Dubbed simply the HIS Radeon HD 5450, the trio is made up of two 1GB adapters and a card with 512MB of memory.

All three of the new graphics cards are powered by the Cedar graphics processing unit, whose GPU clock is set at 650MHz. They are built with 80 Stream processors and feature a 64-bit memory interface. Of course, all devices have built-in support for DirectX 11 graphics, the ATI Stream technology and the ATI Eyefinity Multi-Display technology, for “state-of-the-art HD multimedia and medium gaming experience at a value price.”

One of the cards with 1GB of memory has a half-height back panel and PCB, which makes it usable in half-height PCI Express slots. Its memory runs at 1334MHz and its video-output capabilities include D-Sub, DVI and HDMI. This card's siblings, the other 512MB and the 1GB cards, have largely similar specifications, except for the memory, whose frequency is clocked at 1600MHz.

HIS aims this graphic solution at home-theater PC enthusiasts and those gamers interested in an “uncompromising Microsoft Windows 7 experience.” Multimedia files will be easily played and the product will consume a very low amount of power, even under full load. More specifically, the maximum consumption is of 20 watts, partly thanks to the use of a passive cooling solution that also enables more immersion when gaming and viewing videos through the lack of noise.

The two 1GB HIS HD 5450 graphics cards, as well as the 512MB version, will start selling in the near future and will carry price tags of under 60 Euro. More information on the entire HIS HD 5400 series may be found here.
