Adult Harry Potter fans are going to get very excited about this. As a testament to her writing skills, author J.K. Rowling is going to have her adult novel “The Casual Vacancy” turned into a TV series. And we're not talking small-time TV, but two of the biggest channels in the world today: HBO and BBC.

“The Casual Vacancy” was Rowling's first adult venture, and while it met with mixed reviews from critics, it was certainly a hit with fans as sales went into the millions after the book was released. The two networks are likely banking on that appeal to the public to turn the book into a miniseries.

The partnership was announced with regards to this adaptation that is going to be made into a 3-hour miniseries, co-produced by the Americans at HBO and the British at BBC.

Rowling's novel took on a much darker tone than the one used in her very popular children's books, as it told the story of a small West Country village and its inhabitants who have some disturbing secrets to keep.

Some of the names that have been linked with the production are Paul Trijbits (“Saving Mr. Banks”) as producer, Sarah Phelps (“Eastenders,” “Great Expectations,” “The Crimson Field”) as writer and Johnny Campbell (“In the Flesh,” “Eric& Ernie”) as director.
