As one of the most famous supernatural shows on HBO reaches its end, news is emerging that “True Blood” might actually live beyond its 7-year-run on cable, in the form of a musical. As the premium network has announced that it will be pulling the plug on the series after the current season, plans are being drawn up to continue it elsewhere.

Unfortunately, it won't be in the classic form, but rather as a musical. Composer Nathan Barr has been connected with the idea. He is quoted as saying, “This was something that I pitched to HBO and [series creator] Alan Ball,” at the season 7 premiere party which took place in Hollywood on June 17.

Barr also revealed that his version would revolve around Sookie Stackhouse, the main character of the series, who is portrayed by Anna Paquin on the TV show. He added, “I think we're really going to try to return to the roots of the show.”

Nathan Barr is the man who composed the instrumental scores for all of the 7 seasons in the series, so he thinks he has enough experience to take on such a project, but he's doubtful that he will take it to Broadway.

He gave no guarantees that the show would be played on Broadway at some point, but he was convinced that “the direction we're heading in is really exciting.”
