HBO Can Be Really Helpful

HBO network is planning to reach a much larger audience for the next season, aiming directly at a niche of the audience that, until now, was not that much targeted or, if it was, it was not considered the main target.

The channel has come up with an idea of 'mobile' television series that will help Hispanic viewers learn the English language more easily, providing for them a story to which they can easily relate while, at the same time, a means of rapidly catching on common phrases and colloquial expressions.

'La Traductora' ('The Translator') represents the daily life of Maribel, a Spanish immigrant, who is constantly forced to translate everything for her mother, Carmen, as she understands almost nothing that is being said to her. At the same time with Carmen, the viewer is supposed to learn every English word that her daughter is explaining.

The project has been described by HBO as an 'English phone book to those on the go'. Until now, no other information regarding it has been made public, save that it will be produced by Galan Entertainment, whose president, Nely Galan, worked on 'The Swan' reality show (on Fox) as creator and executive producer.
